DSNWK CDDO

Our Role As CDDO

Community Developmental Disabilities Organization

Consistent with provisions of the Developmental Disability Reform Act, the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services has designated a CDDO for every area of the state to help coordinate developmental disability services and supports.

DSNWK is designated as the CDDO for all of northwest Kansas and works with other affiliated agencies to ensure quality services are occurring in the community and are easy to access. In general, people who meet the developmental disabilities definition who wish to receive services in the 18 counties of northwest Kansas are eligible for services. Service initiation is, however, subject to available funding. Each service provider may have more specific entrance criteria.

CDDO staff can provide specific information regarding service eligibility. It is important to note also that individuals or families can receive services from more than one provider at the same time. Eligibility does not guarantee immediate access to services. Access to some services and supports are at least partially dependent on funding availability. If requested, an Individual Service Coordinator can help each person determine what type of funding is available for services and help to obtain funding.

DSNWK as a CDDO manages a list of individuals from northwest Kansas who may be waiting for services. Funding, when available, is allocated based on a state-wide waiting list where priority is given to those who have waited the longest, based upon the date services were requested.

While the CDDO is not able to guarantee immediate access to all services that are needed, our goal is to be responsive to those seeking assistance, by providing information that will lead to informed choices and expedite access to services.
