EC Competitive Employment

Competitive Employment serves persons needing time-limited assistance in becoming knowledgeable in job-seeking skills, job duties, employment practices and integration into the work force.

Competitive employment is defined as a minimum of 30 hours per week of non-seasonal work, or an individual working less than 30 hours per week by choice, and does not need interventions to maintain employment.

The Employment Specialist is responsible to work with the individual receiving services and the referring agencies to ensure all employment goals are met. The Employment Specialist offers time-limited supports in skill training along with assistance in the elimination of other work related barriers. For example transportation, child care, living arrangements, and recreational activities. The Employment Specialist is also responsible for assisting in the development of generic supports to increase the likelihood of long term success.
