| Work Services provides an opportunity for individuals to experience a work environment where appropriate work behaviors, quality control, quantity of work, and other related skills are developed or enhanced while earning a commensurate wage.
The work is available to those individuals who may want to learn new skills, who have restrictions in accessing their community because of deviant behavior, or who desire to work in a sheltered environment.
The bench work contracts are completed in the developmental centers. The areas of concentration are, but not limited to: bulk mailing, collating, ceramics, specialty buttons and small assembly. To provide additional work experiences there are contractual agreements with the Developmental Centers and residential sites for housekeeping, yard maintenance, and car detailing. These crews operate with a working supervisor, and learn specific job skills in a real work environment.
Work Services has working supervisors who are responsible for maintaining production flow, quality control, and providing support to the individual while learning the needed skills. The working supervisors work along side the individuals to complete the contracts. All persons served in this area have a Employment Specialist who participates on the core team to ensure the individuals employment goals are addressed and implementation plans are written.
The Employment Services Managers are responsible for job procurement, maintaining contact with local businesses, bidding contracts, assisting in the coordination of production schedules and ensuring all persons served are paid a commensurate wage following all Federal Wage and Hour Guidelines. |
