| Employment Connections offers contractual employment services to variety of employment agencies/programs including; Kansas Vocational Rehabilitation, TANF, Ticket to Work and One-Stop. While each program and/or contract varies, below is a general description of the services provided. Employment Connections provides Job Placement Services to individuals who, with assistance from an Employment Specialist can obtain and maintain employment with in a limited time frame. The service assists individuals to find community employment through job development and job match. An Employment Specialist is assigned to an individual once he/she is referred for services. The Employment Specialist works one-on-one with the individual to determine job interests and work skills. Special effort is taken to match employee skills with employer needs. The Employment Specialist is the contact for the individual referred, the employer, and the referring agency. Working together provides the structure for a successful placement. The Employment Specialist will provide one-on-one instruction prior to employment on identified needs which will assist the individuals in their employment search such as; completing an application, writing a resume, interview skills, appropriate dress, personal appearance, and attitudes which may effect the positive outcome of the job search or maintaining employment. The Employment Specialist will also assist the individual in locating transportation, baby sitters and other generic supports in the community which may be needed by the individuals to meet their employment goals. Once employment is secured, the Employment Specialist will remain with the individual on the job site to help train the needed work skills. While working side-by-side the Employment Specialist will ensure that the employees get the personalized training and attention needed to establish a successful employment transition. Since the Employment Specialist is working at the employment site he/she can also assist with the development of natural supports. The Employment Specialist will also assist the individual to adjust to the social environment of the work site. Once the individual has learned all the skills needed, the Employment Specialist begins the fading process. The Employment Specialist begins by fading slowly and then increases the time as the individual becomes more comfortable. If at anytime the individual or the employer feels more help is needed, the Employment Specialist will go back to the work site and provide additional training. |
